Negative emotions

When we hold onto feelings like anger, fear, sadness or guilt, we are only hurting ourselves. We can even hold onto anxiety A                           that we fear the most by avoiding them. However, there are no bad or wrong emotions if we can regulate them.

If we can accept what has happened and why we’re feeling that way, we can start to process and let go of these feelings. Acceptance doesn’t mean you think something is okay B                          . It can simply mean acknowledging and letting go of something that’s causing you pain or holding you back. It will also help you to overcome challenges faster C                          .

Identify a feeling by saying it out loud or writing it down. Saying things like ‘I am worrying about this’ or ‘I am afraid of doing this’ is a skill called mentalising                          and not just ‘be’ the thought but identify it and find E                          . Check your posture and areas of tension; when tense, we often shrink ourselves small. Are you rounding your shoulders, tightening your mouth or tensing your stomach
