The precise establishment date of this town remains elusive. A diminutive fortress was constructed on Borovitsky Hill by Dolgorukiy's son, Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky. It marked the inaugural structure in a sequence that ultimately culminated in the formation of the Moscow Kremlin. While the neighboring city of Vladimir                          (RISE) in prominence and surpassed the former capital Kiev in significance, Moscow endured as a modest town.
