Why do some people have differently coloured eyes?
It is a rare phenomenon in the world for individuals to possess two multi-coloured eyes. As (COMMON) as it may be, only 11 out of every 1,000 people exhibit this distinctive trait, known as heterochromia.
Heterochromia presents in three distinct types. The first type is complete heterochromia, wherein each eye showcases a different hue – such as one being blue and the other brown. The second type, known as (CENTRE) heterochromia, displays eyes that are similar overall, yet exhibit two different colors. Lastly, sectoral heterochromia manifests as a unique splash of color within one iris, deviating from the overall eye coloration.
The origins of this condition can stem from various factors and may even manifest over time. (TYPICAL), the color of an individual's iris develops within the first few months after birth and is generally inherited from their parents. However, there are instances where an injury or an (INFECT) affecting one eye can result in a change in eye color.
Throughout history, individuals with differing eye colors were (TRADITION) regarded as magicians, wizards, or witches. In contemporary times, however, those with multi-coloured eyes or eyes of different colors tend to captivate others with their unique allure and are often considered attractive and fascinating.
