The world of birds

There exist over 9,000 distinct varieties, or species, of birds. These have been classified by                          (SCIENCE) into groupings referred to as orders, which encompass numerous diverse species. The most extensive order is recognized as passerines, also known as perching or songbirds. This category encompasses familiar avian creatures such as robins. 

Birds are                          (AMAZE) organisms – the sole living entities endowed with feathers. Feathers serve to insulate a bird, safeguarding it against the elements of wind and rain. The wings and tail feathers enable birds to achieve flight. 

Certain birds also possess remarkably vibrant plumage. This aids them in attracting mates or blending harmoniously with their                          (SURROUND). Such adaptive coloring is referred to as camouflage.
